There are a number of different factors that go into choosing the right type of sliding door for your room divider or wardrobe.
Door Weight
The weight of the door plays a critical role in determining its size. If a single door becomes too heavy, it might need to be divided into two doors. Each of our systems has specified weight limits to ensure smooth door tracking operation.
Opening Width
The size of your opening will dictate the most suitable system for your application. Smaller openings often allow for threshold-free solutions, eliminating the need for a bottom track. When it comes to wardrobe doors, you'll find a broader range of options tailored to your specific needs.
Installation
We offer various tracking system options to accommodate your installation requirements.
Top Track: Mounting your door to the ceiling may necessitate a bulkhead to slightly lower the door and avoid the cornice. Bulkheads also come in handy for installing a track when your roof cavity is challenging to access.
To ensure proper door closure, we typically install a "door jamb" (usually 18mm) to clear the skirting board at the bottom of the door.
Bottom Track: In cases where ceilings are constructed with plasterboard and lack internal access, most of the room divider's weight rests on the bottom track, with a guide track at the top. When carpet is present, it is cut to accommodate the bottom track and later re-stretched and secured by a professional carpet layer.
For installations with floating floorboards, a recessed bottom track can be pre-planned, or our surface ramped bottom track can be used with a minimal elevation of 8mm off the floor. This ramped bottom track is designed to avoid obstructing the doorway, ensuring safe passage for you and your family.
